What Is Your Ideal Body Weight?
Your ideal body weight is your weight in a perfect world. In other words, your body weight if you lived in a world where you were eating only ideal proportions of healthy, nutritious food, drinking nothing but clear, clean water, and getting adequate exercise and rest. Your ideal body weight is your normal, healthy weight.
In this scenario, your body would maintain its ideal body weight automatically. It would utilize all the healthy calories you consume. It would distribute these calories to the organs and muscles that need the calories. You would have no plaque buildup in your veins and arteries, and no fat deposits anywhere in your body. You would have energy all day long and sleep peacefully all night long. Your chances of suffering diabetes, heart disease, cancer, arthritis, and many other diseases would be extremely low.
Of course we don't live in a perfect world. Time is such a premium today that we find ourselves rushing here and there. Many times we feel like we simply don't have time to prepare and eat healthy meals. We find ourselves eating larger proportions than our bodies really need. Instead of eating scheduled meals, we find ourselves bingeing on one large meal a day. We live in a sedentary world where we spend a lot of time sitting, thus our bodies fail to get the exercise they require.
How To Achieve An Ideal Body Weight In A Non-Ideal World?
Even though we live in an imperfect world, you can achieve your own ideal body weight. It will take some determination and effort, but I assure you, you can do it.
Your body is a living breathing machine and like any machine, if maintained properly, it will function properly.
Your body wants small proportions of healthy food every few hours. When it does not get food every few hours, it begins storing fat for the future.
Your body also wants to move. It was designed for movement. Movement increases your heart rate and opens your lungs so they take in more oxygen so your circulatory system can deliver this life-giving oxygen to all parts of your body. This movement also keeps joints lubricated and moving freely.
Your body wants water, a lot of water...clear, clean water. Not bottled fruit juice, soda, or coffee (especially coffee), your body wants water. Many body organs need ample water to function efficiently. For example, your digestive system needs water to complete the digestive process.
Your body wants and needs rest to recuperate from the days activity.
And lastly, your body wants and needs a schedule. In fact, your body craves a schedule. It wants to get fed nutritious food every few hours.
Simple Changes That Lead To Your Ideal Body Weight
Even though we live in this hustle and bustle world, you can achieve your ideal body weight by making simple changes in your lifestyle.
1 - Get out of bed every morning
This may sound silly, but by getting out of bed I mean getting out of bed early enough to do some light exercise and then eat a small, nutritious breakfast. This step is critical to the process.
Doing light exercise each morning wakes your body up. It accelerates your heat beat, opens your lungs to oxygen, and carries this needed oxygen to organs and muscles getting them started for the day. It also picks up the pace of your metabolism, which starts burning fat.
Your body has gone several hours without nourishment and desperately needs food to complete the start-up process. So a light, nutritious breakfast is crucial.
2 - Eat often
Eating often may sound counterproductive to achieving ideal body weight, however it is absolutely critical. Your body wants and needs nutritious food every few hours. When it gets this food, it stops storing fat and starts burning fat. The constant supply of food keeps all your organs functioning at top efficiency and your metabolism performing at a high rate.
Eat three healthy, light meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) every day. Eat a mid morning and mid afternoon healthy snack. For example, for your mid morning snack eat an apple and some nuts. For your mid afternoon snack, each a banana and nuts.
3 - Drink water
Drink water, not processed liquids like so-called fruit juices (unless fresh squeezed), soda, or coffee. The bottled fruit juices are full of sugar, flavorings, and preservatives. Your body does not know how to handle many of these compounds so it simply stores them as fat. Coffee is nothing more than an addictive drug. It provides no health benefits to your body. In fact, coffee is by far the biggest drug addiction in the world today.
4 - Exercise
Regular exercise is also critical, especially if you sit at a desk all day. When you get out of bed go through a light 10-15 minutes of exercise. When you get to work, take a brisk walk around the parking lot before you go to your office. Walk while you're eating your mid morning and mid afternoon snacks. Before you get into your car to go home, take another brisk walk around the parking lot.
Conclusion
You can do this. Simply implement these changes one at a time. Work them into your life little by little. Before you know it, they will become automatic and you'll have a whole new healthy lifestyle. Then, after a few months you'll discover you have achieved your ideal body weight without ever feeling hungry or deprived of food.
